10,000 people gathered in Paris last Sunday for the annual March for Life in the city. In a trend that is becoming ever more apparent at similar events, large numbers of young adults and families were in attendance.
In addition to abortion, speakers at the march addressed the issue of euthanasia and ongoing bioethical debates in France.
The march came two years after France became the first country in the world to enshrine abortion as a constitutional right in 2024. That amendment, incorporated on March 8, 2024, followed a 780-72 vote in a joint session of parliament.
Pro-life advocates viewed the change as elevating abortion to a protected status, shifting it from a once-criminal act to a fundamental right.
Despite the ongoing challenges facing the pro-life movement internationally, it is deeply encouraging to see such strong turnouts at marches and rallies wherever they are held.
Today (Friday 23rd January), the annual March for Life takes place in Washington, D.C.It is remarkable to reflect on the progress made since the very first March for Life was held there in the immediate aftermath of the devastating 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. Decades of steadfast and courageous effort ultimately led to that ruling being overturned in 2022, opening the door to the restoration of legal protection for unborn children.

Of the 10,000 strong March for Life in Paris it is truly encouraging for all of us spearheading a pro life world order, that increasingly large number of young adults and families are in attendance at such events.
