Minister announces doubling of funding to international pro-abortion group during three-day wait Dáil speech
On Tuesday in the Dáil, Neale Richmond, Minister of State for International Development, declared during the debate on abolishing the three-day wait before an abortion that he had “the distinct honour” the night before of signing off on doubling Ireland’s funding to the International Planned Parenthood Federation, which is one of the leading pro-abortion groups in the world, known in particular for pushing abortion in developing countries.
Minister Richmond said in the Dáil that he made the announcement regarding the increased funding while addressing the annual general conference of the IPPF, which was held in Dublin for the first time.
2024 is the last year for which there are official records with regard to Ireland’s funding of the IPPF, and they received a €1m donation using taxpayers’ money, the same amount as in 2023. It will be interesting to see the 2025 figure and what it has just been doubled to in 2026 without any prior public debate.
As we reported some weeks back, the Government also gifted €50,411,250 of Irish taxpayers’ money to the pro-abortion UN Population Fund (UNFPA) over a five-year period. It is shocking the amount of money being spent on abortion at home and abroad – meanwhile the Government doesn’t donate a cent to funding positive alternatives to abortion.
Minister Richmond’s remarks in the Dáil the other night were truly shameful. In one breath, he proudly celebrated a major increase in funding for one of the world’s leading pro-abortion organisations; in the next, he supported the dismantling of the life-saving three-day reflection period.
The time has come for real accountability regarding the use of taxpayers’ money to fund abortion and the deeply misleading manner in which this expenditure is dressed up as investment in ‘healthcare’ and women’s welfare and empowerment.

I couldn’t agree more and all tax payers have a right to know how their money is spent
We need to call Neale Richmond out
It is time to get all Prolife people to challenge him and make it public
How tone deaf is Mr. Richmond. This looks like a deliberate snub to all pro-life people.

The smoke of Satan. “” well and truly embedded in THE DAIL.
I contacted Neale Richmond a couple of years ago about giving money to planned parenthood and he denied it completely. It’s rather strange that he is now boasting about doubling the tax payers money to planned parenthood. Little wonder there is such little respect for politicians nowadays.
I strongly object to Irish taxpayers money being used to fund pro abortion child sacrifice organizations. Strong initiatives will need to be taken to make it abundantly clear to the government political parties what Irish people who support the protection of human life from conception to natural death think of this evil and immoral initiative to financially support international child sacrifice pro abortion oorganizations..
