The BBC reported recently on two couples who went through with abortions after an NHS trust mistakenly told them their unborn babies had serious genetic conditions.
They say errors by doctors at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust led to them terminating their pregnancies.
Tragedies like these will keep happening as long as the right-to-life of unborn babies is disrespected and derided by our culture.
As well as the high profile cases that have come to light in Ireland in recent years, the Pro Life Campaign is regularly in touch with parents who’ve been advised, often in a most cavalier manner, to opt for abortion, including in situations where those offering the advice don’t have all the facts regarding the baby’s condition to hand.
When a society adopts a position that certain lives are of less value than others, it follows logically that respect for all human life becomes undermined and diminished.
The recent BBC report also featured a family who sought a last-minute scan on the day the abortion was due to take place, leading to them changing their minds. They are now the parents of a healthy nine-year-old boy.

We need to listen and open our eyes to what is going on in our immediate situations, particularly in a hospital.
