One of the very first actions taken by the new Trump-Vance administration in the US was to close a federal government website opened by President Biden to promote abortion at taxpayers’ expense.
The website ReproductiveRights.gov had gone offline on Monday, within hours of Trump being installed as the 47th president.
It was one of many measures anticipated by pro-life supporters once the new administration came to power. Many more decisions of a similar bent are expected in the coming days, including the reinstatement of the ‘Mexico City Policy’, the name given to the policy that has in the past blocked U.S. federal funding of overseas abortions, particularly in developing countries.
Pro-life supporters are also expecting President Trump to issue pardons within days to peaceful pro-life protesters who were jailed by the Biden administration.
The Thomas More Society, a public interest law firm based in the US, has formally petitioned the new President to pardon the pro-life activists. In a statement, they say: “These peaceful pro-life Americans mistreated by Biden include grandparents, pastors, a Holocaust survivor, and a Catholic priest — all are selfless, sincere patriots. We respectfully urge that all 21 of them detailed here are richly deserving of full and unconditional pardons.”
Life News lists the 21 pro-life currently languishing in jail as: Joan Bell, Coleman Boyd, Joel Curry, Jonathan Darnel, Eva Edl, Chester Gallagher, William Goodman, Dennis Green, Lauren Handy, Paulette Harlow, John Hinshaw, Heather Idoni, Jean Marshall, Fr. Fidelis Moscinski, Justin Phillips, Paul Place, Paul Vaughn, Bevelyn Beatty Williams, Calvin Zastrow, Eva Zastrow, and James Zastrow.
