Recently, Journal.ie has featured a series of “investigative” reports about the fact that some Irish women still travel to England for abortions.
The purpose of the series is painfully obvious – to create the impression that abortion in Ireland remains very restrictive and that the law needs further loosening.
With their attention grabbing headlines, Journal.ie makes no attempt whatsoever to inform the public about the true scale of the horror under Ireland’s new abortion regime, where over 10,000 abortions now take place annually, up from under 3,000 abortions in 2018, and where some babies are surviving the abortion procedure in Irish hospitals and being left to die alone and unaided without receiving any medical care.
Something else that Journal.ie didn’t bother to go into any detail on in their “investigative” reports is that most of the Irish abortions still taking place in England are for very late term abortions, with many of them specifically targeting babies with Down Syndrome, according to official figures.
When it comes to abortion, Journal.ie doesn’t trust its readers with impartial analysis or the full story. Rather, it is operating as a fully-fledged campaigning outlet masquerading as a news source.
And if that wasn’t enough, Journal.ie had the audacity to fundraise on the back of its recent coverage, claiming that “investigations like this don’t happen without your support… Impactful investigative reporting is powered by people like you”, as the outlet proceeds with a link to where readers can donate.
What should pro-life people do in the face of such bias? There are lots of steps we need to take to address the issue but at a very basic level we need to keep spreading the word – encouraging family and friends to question where they consume their news from. Having these conversations with loved ones is a very healthy and important thing to do, particularly in the current political climate.

The Irish media and political establishment is like an old piece of furniture…throurougly infected with the woodworm of Abortionism …we need a root and branch reform of this new ascendancy
