The Pro Life Campaign submitted its response last week to Coimisiún na Meán as part of the public consultation launched by the Commission on its draft Media Pluralism Policy.

The PLC submission commended the objective of promoting media pluralism and greater diversity within the sector. However, it cautioned that such pluralism will remain merely a slogan unless Coimisiún na Meán confronts its own internal blind spots as Ireland’s media watchdog – particularly with regard to the evident conflict of interest in serving both as the supposedly impartial regulator and as a distributor of substantial public funds to the very organisations it oversees.
