Irish doctor based in England, Dr Dermot Kearney, announced on X that a baby boy was born on 31 July following the successful treatment of receiving the abortion reversal pill. This brings the total to 62 babies whose lives have been saved due to this treatment.

Dr Kearney has pioneered this treatment in his medical career and has often faced uphill battles because of it. Dr Kearney noted that this most recent baby was born after his mother regretting taking Mifepristone at 7 weeks gestation.

He has personally been responsible for “assisting with abortion pill reversal services in 29 of these [62] miraculous lives with several more births due in the coming weeks.” Earlier this year, he was awarded for his work by the organisation Heartbeat International in Salt Lake City, Utah. Accepting his award, he said: “Never, ever get tired of doing what is right. It can be discouraging. There will be opposition. Sometimes you’ll fall and fail, but just get back up and never, ever get tired of doing what is right.”

Dr Kearney was put through the wringer by the General Medical Council, which launched an investigation into him based on alleged ‘professional misconduct’ due to his support for the life- saving abortion reversal pill. He noted, “I’m the first doctor in history, I think, to be banned from saving lives.” In February 2022, all charges were dropped before he was scheduled to make an appeal on the grounds that “there was no prospect of obtaining any evidence to support the allegations of professional misconduct.”

5,000 babies are believed to have been born due to abortion pill reversal globally.
We are all thankful for his important work in the cause of protecting human life. His friends in the Pro Life Campaign and the Irish pro-life movement wish him well.
