Last Saturday, an estimated 10,000 people took part in the annual March for Life in London.

The march comes amid an ongoing debate over abortion laws in England, Scotland and Wales, with pro-life campaigners calling for greater restrictions on abortion and less censorship of the pro-life message following the establishment of buffer zones around abortion clinics and hospitals.

A counter-demonstration by masked pro-abortion activists interrupted the march at various points along its route from the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster to Parliament Square, with protesters shouting obscene slogans at participants.

Protesters also disrupted the Mass at Westminster Cathedral celebrated for the March for Life, shouting pro-abortion taunts before being removed from the cathedral.

Yet, amidst all the attempts to silence the pro-life message, one thing stood out again at this year’s march: the large and growing numbers of young people taking a stand in defence of human life.

It was a remarkable spectacle to witness. More importantly, it signals a much brighter future for the pro-life movement than the protesters seeking to silence it would like to admit. Their efforts to discourage and thwart the movement will ultimately prove futile.
