The Pro Life Campaign has repeated its call for proper Government support to be given to homeless charities in the light of yesterday’s news report that 6 pregnant women were sleeping rough in Dublin this week.

Speaking about the report, Deputy Chairperson of the PLC, Cora Sherlock, said:

“While this report will be expected by those who are actively involved in working with the homeless, one has to wonder how many more of these news stories we will have to see before the Government decides to take action.

“The security of a safe and comfortable home is the very least that we should be offering to women by way of support while they are pregnant.

“It is simply unacceptable that the most basic human need, that of a home, is not being met for many in Irish society, but particularly for pregnant women.  Those members of Government who are most vocal about women’s rights must now step up and address this growing crisis,” she concluded.
