The Pro Life Campaign has said the Mick Wallace abortion bill currently being debated in the Dáil is more about introducing abortion than helping families.

Speaking earlier today, Cora Sherlock of the Pro Life Campaign said: “The Wallace bill ignores the fact that doctors cannot predict how long a baby with a life-limiting condition will live. This is the one question Mick Wallace and his supporters won’t answer – why propose a law that writes off babies instead of giving them a chance at life?

“At the heart of the Wallace bill is misinformation and a refusal to acknowledge the potential and humanity of these babies. It is astonishing that neither Mick Wallace nor his supporters in the Dáil have ever met with families who were pressured to abort their babies diagnosed with a life-limiting condition but didn’t go through with the abortion. These families are now so pleased that their children not only survived but thrived. It’s time supporters of the bill were asked a few hard questions about the inconsistencies in their stance.”
