Pro Life Campaign comments on forthcoming A,B & C -v- Ireland ECHR decision

The decision in the case A. B. and C. v. Ireland on abortion will be delivered by the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) next Thursday 16th December 2010.

In view of the pending decision, Dr Ruth Cullen of the Pro Life Campaign commented:

"As an international court with a human rights remit, the ECHR has a strong duty and obligation to make clear the distinction between necessary medical treatments in pregnancy and abortion, which directly targets the life of the unborn baby.

Groups campaigning for abortion in Ireland always blur this vital distinction and ignore the latest peer reviewed studies showing the negative effects of abortion on women.

The Pro Life Campaign hopes the courts findings respect human life at all stages of development. After all, without the right to life all other rights are meaningless."

The Pro Life Campaign participated in the case as an interested Third Party.
